Conception
Conception is a bold and expressive celebration of cultural fusion—where the vibrancy of African textiles meets the structure and refinement of Western tailoring. This collection seeks to explore and honour the richness of dual heritage, reimagining traditional elements from both African and Western fashion through a contemporary, inclusive lens.
At the heart of Conception lies a dialogue between contrasts: bold prints and structured silhouettes, fluid forms and tailored precision, heritage and innovation. African wax prints and traditional fabrics are paired with Western-inspired materials—such as suiting wool, cotton twill, and tartan-inspired weaves—to create a visual and tactile narrative that bridges continents, identities, and histories.
The collection features a diverse range of garments, including sharply tailored blazers and suits, fluid dresses, striking jumpsuits, and versatile co-ords. Each piece is designed to evoke confidence, power, and pride, embracing a modern aesthetic that speaks to a generation unafraid to express their cultural complexity.
Tartan-inspired fabrics are woven into the collection as a subtle yet significant nod to Scotland’s textile heritage—referencing the designer’s own personal connection to place. These are balanced with silhouettes and surface details inspired by African traditions of dress and adornment, resulting in garments that neither assimilate nor separate, but instead celebrate hybridity.
Conception is more than a fashion collection; it is a visual manifesto—one that champions multicultural identity, challenges binary notions of tradition versus modernity, and redefines elegance through the lens of cultural integration. It is a statement of selfhood, strength, and belonging, crafted with intention and pride.
